Hauling your life halfway across the world is no easy feat, and it often comes with the bittersweet heartbreak of saying goodbye to your loved ones.
Recently, the Springboks’ ‘first lady’ Rachel Kolisi took to Instagram to celebrate a family reunion after months of the brood scrambling to find their feet in their new home, in Paris.
The big move came at the cost of saying goodbye to Siya’s two siblings – Liyema and Liphelo.
The day before the big move away from South Africa to Paris, Rachel took to Instagram expressing how difficult it was to say goodbye. She wrote:
“After a week of devastating goodbyes, packing, working, holding space for my babies, farewells, and lots and lots of admin. This morning I woke up to this flower. The promise of a new season.”
“My heart is super heavy, moving is very very hard. I’m throwing all my faith in Jesus in this season.”
Despite experiencing this shift, which, to any family would be trying, the Kolisi’s pushed through and have slowly started to settle in Paris, where Siya will be joining France’s rugby club, Racing 92.
To add even more excitement to the chapter, The Rugby World cup has seen the family travel to the games, which are being held in Paris, in support of Siya as his last run as the Springboks captain.
Ahead of the final match on Saturday, the Kolisi family has reunited with Siya’s siblings Liyema and Liphelo who are visiting all the way from South Africa.
On Wednesday, Rachel took to Instagram to share a video of the pair surprising their niece and nephew – Nicholas and Keziah. Rachel captioned her post:
“My heart hasn’t felt so full in months. ❤️ Can’t begin to explain how rough it’s been, being half way across the world. Just so grateful. 🙏🏼”
