Bad hair days have officially been canceled, thanks to summer’s trendiest hair accessory – the humble head scarf. With different methods of using a scarf to style your hair, a chic, on-trend look can take you less than minutes to pull off – especially with these how-to’s in your artillery.

Summer bandana style
Possibly the easiest method of dressing a head scarf is this summer bandana style. All you’ll need is a head scarf (of decent size to create a tail) and a hair tie.
Start by folding your scarf in half (length way) before bringing to your hair with loose ends facing downwards.
Bring the two ends together at the back of your head, and secure with a hairband.
Then, twist one tail-end of your scarf around the hair tie and tuck in below the band for a neat finish.
Bandana with a bang
This style will make those bangs pop!
First, separate your fringe from the rest of your hair, bringing the strands of your fringe forward and tying the rest of your hair up in a low pony.
Then, grab your head scarf, and fold over into a triangle with the loose pointy ends facing downwards.
Fold the long, closed-end over on itself 5 times. Then, bring the scarf to your head with the loose pointy ends facing upwards.
Grab the tail ends of your scarf below your pony and secure with a double knot.
Rolled updo
This style is laid-back, great for a casual look.
First, tie your hair into a pony, leaving your fringe loose to frame your face.
Then, about 10cm before your pony ends, use a hairband to secure a scarf hanging exactly halfway on either side.
Once you’ve got your scarf secured, bend your head forward and begin to roll your pony upwards, ensuring that both ends of the scarf stay on either side.
Once you’ve created a bun, secure by wrapping both ends of the scarf around your bun and tie. Voila!
Braided updo
This look is chic, feminine and works for both casual and more dressed-up looks.
Start by tying low pigtails on either side of your head. Your hair band should rest at level with the bottom of your ears.
Once your pigtails are secure, bring your scarf towards the back of your head and pull either end through each pony, leaving each side of the scarf hanging with your hair.
Then, with the scarf acting as a third strand, plait your ponies weaving the scarf into the plait.
Bring each plait towards the back of your head and cross over before bringing upwards with the ends of your scarf. Secure the style with a knot at the top of your head. Don’t forget to tuck the loose ends in!
Low pony lover
Did you know that a tie makes the perfect head scarf for a simpler ‘do?
Knick an old tie from the closet and fold in half, securing into a knot with a hairband (see below). Once you’ve got your tie secured to your band, it’s time for a low pony!
Tie your low pony ensuring that either end of the tie falls on their side of your pony.
Loop both strands of your tie below your pony and upwards again. Secure with a single knot and then finish with a neat bow. It’s as simple as that!
