Since its release in March 2024, Tyla has been making waves globally. The album’s lead single, Water, became a viral sensation, while her follow-up track Jump – featuring American rapper Gunna and Jamaican artist Skillibeng – continued to soar. Shot in Johannesburg, the Jump music video smashed YouTube records, racking up 2 million views within just two days. Other standout tracks like Art and Truth or Dare have also become fan favourites, proving that Tyla is here to stay.
Tyla’s success isn’t just limited to streaming charts. The album has earned her multiple nominations at the upcoming South African Music Awards (SAMAs), including nods for Album of the Year, Best Pop Album, Newcomer of the Year, and Female Artist of the Year. All eyes will be on the SAMAs, set to take place on November 2, 2024, as Tyla gears up for what could be another history-making night.

This isn’t her first global achievement either. In September, Tyla went platinum in Brazil, and earlier this year, she took home her first Grammy Award, solidifying her status as a global superstar.
As if that wasn’t enough, Tyla treated her fans to a deluxe edition of her debut album, titled Tyla+, which dropped last Friday. The expanded version features three brand-new tracks: Shake Ah, with Tony Duardo, Optimist, and Maestro, Push 2 Start, and Back To You.
And there’s more excitement on the horizon for her South African fans. Tyla is set to return home for a tour this December, with scheduled performances in Pretoria and Cape Town. With all her recent wins, it’s safe to say Tyla’s star is shining brighter than ever!
