Summertime is hot on our heels and although it might be a good time to whip out the mini skirts and shorts, some of us prefer to be a little more covered up than others. Here are some style tips to help you dress modestly even in the heat of summer.
Clothe yourself in light colours
Dark colours like black absorb the heat, which means you might feel hotter in dark colours. In this case, if you prefer to cover up in the warmer months, steer away from darker colours. Lighter colours reflect the sunlight, which means you won’t absorb the heat and you will most probably feel cooler.
Breathable fabrics are your best friend
Wearing breathable fabrics will help you feel cooler so even if you’re fully covered, your skin will be able to breathe, preventing you from overheating and keep sweating to a minimum. Linens are great for summer as they absorb moisture and help to regulate your body temperature.
Stock up on shirt dresses
Maxi-shirt dresses are light and stylish and they can cover as much as you’d prefer. They are flexible, as you can control how modest you’d like your look to be on any given day. You can keep a button or two open at the top to reveal a bit of flirty cleavage if you so prefer, or you can button it all the way to the top to cover up as much skin as you want.
The looser the better
Making sure your clothes are not tight-fitting will easily help you maintain your modest look. In summer, particularly in those steaming hot days, you don’t want things clinging to your body, as they may irritate your skin, especially if you’re prone to sweating.
