Another beloved South African celebrity couple has decided to part ways. Singer Bobby van Jaarsveld and his wife, Annatjie, have announced their divorce after 13 years together, sharing the news through heartfelt statements on social media.

In a message posted on Instagram, Bobby revealed the couple’s difficult choice. “Sometimes unconditional love looks different than what meets the eye. After much consideration, Anna and I made the most difficult decision of our lives—to end our marriage,” he wrote.
The couple emphasized that their decision was not made lightly. They believe it is the best step for their family at this time.

Bobby and Annatjie met as teens in Grade 8, began dating at 17, and tied the knot in 2011. Over their years together, they shared countless moments of joy and love, including welcoming their three children—sons Sion and Leben and daughter Armani.
Their children remain their highest priority. “God has blessed us with three beautiful children, and they will always be our first priority. Even though our relationship as a couple changes, we are both committed to raising our children together as friends with the same love they have experienced so far,” the couple shared.
The Van Jaarsvelds have asked for understanding and privacy during this time. “We are grateful for everyone’s love and support. We request that we as a family please be respected in this difficult time so that each one can walk separately and on a path of healing,” their statement concluded, signed “Bobby and Annatjie.”
Bobby famously wrote the song Annatjie in 2009 as a tribute to his wife, showcasing the deep bond they shared. In 2019, the family relocated to Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, where they enjoyed a quieter seaside life.
Despite this transition, the couple remains united in their commitment to co-parenting and supporting their children as they move forward in separate but amicable paths.
