South African sensation Tyla continues her meteoric rise in the global music scene, landing eight nominations at the upcoming 2024 Billboard Music Awards.
The 22-year-old Grammy-winning artist shares the third-most nominations alongside heavyweights like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Teddy Swims.

Tyla is a contender in several top-tier categories, including:
- Top R&B Artist
- Top R&B Female Artist
- Top Afrobeats Artist
Her debut album, Tyla, competes for Top R&B Album, while her breakout hit Water vies for Top R&B Song.
In the Top Afrobeats Song category, Tyla shines with three entries: Water, Truth or Dare, and Jump, featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.
A year of milestones
2024 has been monumental for Tyla. She has not only secured multiple MTV EMA and VMA wins but also celebrated her album surpassing a billion streams on Spotify in June.
Her hit single Water has amassed over 890 million Spotify streams, with Truth or Dare and Jump reaching 138 million and 189 million streams, respectively.
Her debut album also earned a spot among Spotify’s top 10 most-streamed female albums of the year.
Ending 2024 with a bang
Tyla is set to cap off the year with exciting events. She will perform at:
- Cape Town’s GrandWest Grand Arena on 5 December
- Pretoria’s SunBet Arena on 7 December
Before her tour, Tyla will debut her new single Tears, a collaboration with Coke Studios, during a special Johannesburg appearance on 4 December.
