Cruising is all about non-stop eating, daily activities and getting up to all colours of fun.
Here are a few stories about life on board ocean liners – and one about life on a rickety rock ship:
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
With Marilyn at her most charming, you’ll love this 1950’s classic! The comedy musical, which sees two showgirls cause a stir on their cruise crossing from America to France, is packed with wit and charm. Relish every detail, from the glamorous setting and glitzy costumes to Ms Monroe’s legendary number about a girl’s best friend.
Out to Sea
The hilarious Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau star in this delightful romcom about two old-timers who find themselves teaching dance lessons on a luxury cruise. Despite not quite being masters of the dance floor, each man finds a lady-friend and tries his best to win her over.
An Affair to Remember
Possibly one of the most romantic movies of all time, this one had to be on our list. Starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, the film follows the story of Nickie and Terry who meet on the SS Constitution ocean liner and agree to meet six months later at the Empire State Building. The ending will have you reaching for the tissues!

Legend of 1900
A young Tim Roth stars in this moving tale about a boy who spends his life on a cruise liner, and grows up to be a musical prodigy. The soundtrack received multiple awards, including a Golden Globe, and the scene where 1900 and jazz legend Jelly Roll Morton face off is astounding.
The Boat that Rocked
Not quite a cruise setting, but we couldn’t not include this foot-tapping gem! With a stellar cast of Bill Nighy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rhys Ifans and Emma Thompson – and, celebrating rock ‘n roll in the sixties – what’s not to love? For this one, we’ll forgive its non-sea-faring status.
