Women play so many roles in a day; they are mothers, career women, homemakers and caregivers. They are basically superheroes.
It’s tough being a woman in 2017. There is an inherent drive to always be better and push harder. Here are a few ways to manage your life so you can continue doing what you do best.
Here’s how to handle everything that comes with it, as part of our Fedhealth #FamilyTime series.
Get your priorities right
We love lists – because they really do work. Begin each day with two lists; one for work, one for your home or family. Start by listing everything you need to get done. But it doesn’t end there. Once you’ve written everything down, prioritise!
Number your tasks in order of importance and then start with number one, cover the rest with a piece of paper so you don’t feel overwhelmed and move through your list number by number.
Ditch the things you can’t control
As difficult as it may be to accept, we cannot control everything. It’s the nature of women to try to be in control of all of life’s situations. But life throws curve balls that we are not supposed to be able to catch. Things like health issues are often out of your control so you should put them out of your head and only deal with them should they arise. Look to your family for support during these tough times – don’t be afraid to be vulnerable with them, you will often find strength from being open.
Learn to say no
The power of yes is always seen as a powerful attitude but the power of no should be used as a tool to empower yourself. Don’t say no for the sake of it. Say no when it’s necessary, even if it means saying no to your family or to your boss. That little two-letter word can do so much; it puts the power back in your hands and allows you to feel more in control.
Learn to delegate
Once again, it’s not easy for women to relinquish control but it is important that they do. There’s no shame in delegating tasks to your family members or colleagues, it doesn’t mean you are inferior or incompetent. In fact it means the opposite; it means you are in control and you have trust in the people around you. Start small, delegate daily chores around the house to your family and then move to the bigger areas of your life.
