A bedtime routine is one of the most underrated forms of self-love out there. The bridge to an actual good night’s rest and the prompter for the morning’s buzz, if there’s one thing anyone who wants to form good habits needs to do, it’s end your day as peacefully as possible.
When it comes to high-profile people, we might imagine that their bedtime routines are filled with staff fanning them to sleep with oversized palm leaves, or maybe a hired harpist lulling them to slumber.
However, for one of the most famous women in the world, it’s all about keeping it simple and navigating her anxiety.
Kendall Jenner recently chatted to British Vogue about her bedtime routine, revealing what she does to soothe her anxiety before dreamland as well as some of her nighttime beauty routines.
Here’s what Kendall shared:
Calming her anxiety is a huge part of her bedtime routine
Anxiety doesn’t give a rat’s ass about how famous you are. In fact, the mental health profiles of many celebrities is a great indicator of how the two go hand-in-hand, often negatively.
Kendall has always been pretty real about dealing with anxiety, sharing that she’s battled with it for years.
When asked what keeps her up at night, she explained that it’s her anxiety. “It can have good and bad days.”
Her go-to? 15 minutes of meditation, a cup of tea, a good read a calming candle– and of course journaling. As simple as these sound, anyone who’s tried these measures knows that they can be the difference between a night filled with knots in your tummy, or actually getting rest.
Basic skincare and oral beauty routines are nightly rituals for her
Kendall’s smile is easily one of her most distinctive features, so it makes sense that she’d make sure to use the MOON oral beauty routine every night. As for her skin, Kendall’s struggled with acne for a lot of her life and opened up about how badly it impacted her self-esteem.
When she was 25, the supermodel shared that she has an acne-prone complexion, and even described it as being brutal.
However, it’s not a rocket-science-based routine that Kendall focuses on, but rather a basic skincare routine that harnesses gentle products, including her dermatologist-instructed Clean Natural Facial Cleanser, and SkinCeuticals Vitamin C E Ferulic serums.
Beyond aesthetic and health purposes, routines like this are especially important when it comes to consistency – something known to help us avoid those anxious mornings.
She avoids her phone at least an hour before bed
Most of us know that blue light isn’t exactly a picnic for our eyes, known for restricting melatonin, AKA the hormone responsible for your all-important sleep-wake cycle.
Often, because our sleep-wake cycles are disrupted thanks to those blue lights, anxiety can creep in because we’re not getting the proper sleep we should be.
Kendall shares that she usually avoids looking at her phone an hour before it’s lights-out, and is even “trying to get better about keeping my phone near my bed at night.”
