A heart-warming moment surfaced from the 2022 Comrades Marathon when mom-of-three, Jenna Challenor from KZN crawled over the finish line in the gruelling ultimate human race.
On the 28th of August, The Comrades Marathon took place in Durban and had the world on its toes, watching one of the world’s most toughest competitions . With 15986 participates, there have been so many victorious stories.
Jenna completed the race in forth position in a remarkable total time of 6 hours and 42 minutes. Despite being physically and mentally exhausted, her determination spoke volumes and inspired so many participants, supporters and her family because she persevered.
The proud moment was captured, and the look on Jenna’s face as well as her body says it all.
According to The Citizen Jenna was the second woman from South Africa to complete the race. She states ” I didn’t want to crawl over the finish line. But my legs wouldn’t get up. So it was my best option.”
Jenna collapsed 3 times during the race but each time she fell, she got up and kept reminding herself of the reason she was competing in the first place and refused to give up. Her motivation? Without a doubt, her husband and her girls who wore pink caps in honour of the perseverant woman.
The 41-year-old, experienced long-distance runner said “I was crawling to the finish line, towards my husband and my beautiful girls.”
With support from thousands, social media blew up taking this victory viral and praising the bravery that Jenna displayed. It has surely inspired us!
