This past weekend award-winning artist Adele welcomed home her very first Emmy award, marking her one award short of an ‘EGOT’ lineup (Emmy, Grammy Oscar and Tony), the dream of them all for Hollywood artists.
The queen of ballads couldn’t be there to receive her award in person as she is currently working on her new Las Vegas residency, but that didn’t stop her joy from radiating through her social media posts.
“Bloody hell I’m pleased as punch! Thank you @mrbenwinston for dropping this round to me this afternoon!! Trust me to officially have an EGO,” she wrote on Instagram and Twitter Sunday night making a joke of the ‘EGOT’ goal, tagging executive producers of Adele: One Night Only.
It was her CBS special that won the Emmy for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), and her CBS television special was the winner in four other categories.
“Thank you so much @televisionacad, I’m so so honoured to receive this. Big up to everyone involved. @griffithobservatory thank you for letting me sing up on your mountain and big love to all the other nominees x,” said Adele.
Adele’s nightstand is shining in gold with 15 Grammys and an Oscar under her belt.
As for EGOT status, we can’t wait to see Adele say hello from the others side of the prestigious achievement. Other stars who have already achieved EGOT status include Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend and most recently Jennifer Hudson.
