Local firefighters from Sedgefield are being showered in praise after rescuing a baby girl who had stopped breathing.
The parents of baby Kêva, Kevin Bartelmann and partner Alicia Koeries have sung the praises of the firefighters that rescued their little girl after she stopped breathing recently, reports Die Burger.
Alicia had put her child down to sleep, but when she checked on her a while later, Kêva was not breathing. Kevin was at work and after family members tried to help but failed, Alicia rushed her baby to the nearest fire station.
Firefighter Charlene Taylor and her team who were on duty acted quickly and managed to revive Kêva with their emergency training before she was taken to a hospital in Knysna.
Kêva has recovered perfectly, but discovering why the little one stopped breathing was imperative.
According to Kevin per Die Burger, doctors say sometimes this happens to babies, but they are also unsure as to why this happens. The relieved parents shared that everyone was overjoyed when they heard baby Kêva cry again.
