The mark that 70-year-old actress and filmmaker Connie Chiume has left on SA’s entertainment industry is no secret. The star has worked on various local and international productions spanning her 40 year career. From local hits like Soul City, Rhythm City and Zone 14, to raking in international acclaim for her roles in Black Panther and Black is King.
This year, as a first in her career, Connie has been awarded not only one but three Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Earlier in 2022, Chiume received her first lifetime achievement award at the SAFTAS (South African Film and Television Awards). She received her second by the HAPA Awards (Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards). Now, she has raked in a third from GQ’s annual Men of the Year Awards.

The GQ Men of the Year awards took place over the weekend, celebrating the trailblazers that shape our local cultural landscape, who are pushing the boundaries in their respective industries.
The most coveted award for the evening, the Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege Lifetime Achievement Award, was handed to no other but entertainment veteran, Connie Chiume.
