The Grammy award-winning artist has charmed her way into Hollywood over the last two decades through her music, with the most recent album topping streaming giant Spotify’s charts. Now, Swift is settling down into director’s chair, as she dips her toes into the world of filmmaking.
The artist made her first acting debut in 2010 in the romantic movie, Valentine’s Day. Fans at the time could have never predicted that the Look What You Made Me Do singer would branch out into the world of directing.
In fact, the process isn’t entirely new to the singer. Taylor has directed ten of her own music videos, which are not unlike films. They’re generally longer and pack more of a narrative than an average music video.
In an Instagram post sharing behind-the-scenes footage about her All Too Well music video/short film, Taylor chats about her process in directing the 10 minute music video:
“The first seeds of this short film were planted over 10 years ago, and I’ll never forget the behind-the-scenes moments of the shoot”,

Now, news of Swift directing a feature-length movie for Searchlight Pictures has hit the rumour mill. Details regarding the specifics of the film, such as casting and synopsis, have yet to be released but word going around says that the script has already been written.
In an interview with Variety, Taylor shares more on how she got into directing:
“I think this grew out of a natural extension of that storytelling.”
