Viva Magenta was on everyone’s radars as we neared 2023. While the colour may be hot on the fashion scene this year, it looks like it may need to share the spotlight…
As January kicked off, armed with myriad bold trends that manifested in some unexpected ways (vanillacore for one, isn’t your typical understanding of bold), there was one colour that stood out amongst all the shimmer, cargo and Viva Magenta.
Cobalt Blue quickly became a favourite, from high fashion to streetwear. A heavenly blue dazed with an electric feel, the shade exudes a royal feel with a touch of thrill.
Now, if you follow your fashion trends, you’ll know that Cobalt Blue was already tickling many a fashionistas fancy back in June last year, deemed the colour of summer for those in the Northern Hemisphere that resurfaced recently.
Linked to the popular trend of dopamine dressing and seen on runways from Off White to Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen for Spring/Summer collections in 2022, Cobalt Blue navigated its popularity into the new year and for good reason.
1.Royal in blue!
Like a rich purple, Cobalt Blue exudes a similar sense of royalty. Eyecatching without being harsh, this shade exudes a sense of royalty that aptly, Kate Middleton herself rocked.
2. Feel good blues
This shade of blue is one of those colours that gives us that dopamine kick but without the agression. If you’re not prepared to embrace a blue you, it’s also the perfect shade for an accent piece to add a pop of colour to any outfit that might need a little sprucing up.
3. The colour itself is the statement piece
When we think about statement pieces, we might think of structured choices that exude edge in their cut, design or detailing. Cobalt Blue has a way of turning even the simplest pieces into statements, even if their structure is fairly simple.
4. A breathe of fresh air after the era of hot pink
I loved the hot pink movement as much as the next Valentino lover, but Barbiecore’s reign couldn’t last forever. Serving as another strong colour that still maintains versatility, Cobalt Blue’s return came at just the right time.
We love a Vivia Magenta moment, but if you’re ready to settle into your blues, Cobalt Blue might just be the hottest ticket.
