The countdown to Christmas – make your DIY beauty advent calendar

Nothing excites us more than counting down to Christmas with an advent calendar. But is it too early to start the countdown? We think not! It’s never too early to start spoiling yourself.

The festive season is fast approaching and the level of excitement is on the rise, stretching by the day! Along with all of our favourite Christmas traditions, like decorating the tree and putting up socks, we love unboxing advent calendars. A chocolate advent calendar, like Lindt’s annual Christmas one, is possibly our biggest guilty pleasure!

Although we can dream about the luxury beauty advents that we see in vlogs from international beauty gurus, filled with perfumes and travel minis, they can be a bit tricky to find locally, and pricey if you do manage to find one.

But, you know we love a DIY project, so why not try your hand at making your own advent calendar? You can fill it with anything you like, but this one is a beauty surprise!

Let’s make a DIY advent calendar

Materials

Toilet Rolls x24
Prit/Glue
Stapler
Pencil
Paper of your choice
Filling gifts
Ribbon
Gift tag calendar stickers (as seen in the video)

Method/Instructions:

Step 1:

Take your 24 toilet rolls and arrange them in a Christmas tree shape and staple them together

eg.

Step 2:

Roll out your paper, trace an outline of the toilet roll tree and cut out the outlined shape, you will need 2, for the top and bottom openings of the toilet rolls.

Then cut a long, thick strip of paper to cover the sides, too.

Step 3:

Take 1 traced piece of paper and stick it down to cover the bottom of the rolls. Stick down the long strips on the sides.

Step 4: (This is where things get fun)

Now it’s time to fill with your favourite beauty minis, we have a gift guide for you below!

Step 5:

Cover the top of the toilet roll with the other piece of cut-out paper, and ensure none of the original toilet roll is sticking out.

Step 6:

Punch a small hole in the top toilet roll and run a ribbon through it. Tie a knot to allow it to hang.

Step 8:

Cut out numbered calendar gift tags and stick them on each toilet roll circle. Arrange in non-numerical order to keep it fun!
