If you’ve sensed a change in the energy around you, your astrology-obsessed friends might have already informed you that we’re in Libra season, accompanied by a knowing nod and faint references to the moon and equinox.
Cool, you might be thinking – but what does being in Libra season actually mean? And how can you make the most of the new zodiac terrain?
Every month, we enter into a new zodiac domain – each with its own opportunities and lessons. We recently triumphed Virgo season, which helped present us with opportunities to ground ourselves a little more and make smaller steps toward bigger goals – great for future us, but what do we do in the present? Do we keep on burning the midnight oil in small doses, or take a breather?
Here’s what Libra season is all about:
Now, in the season of the scales, the emphasis is on balance, abundance, playfulness, beauty and luck – a mixed bag, but a wholesome one that most of us who’ve had quite enough of retrogrades, can welcome.
If Virgo season was about getting down to the nitty-gritty, Libra season stands back and admires the fruits of your efforts. Coupled with a new moon and in the midst of Mercury’s retrograde, you’d be forgiven for feeling a strong sense of change, and even a little confusion.
The good news is that things are about to get clearer than your skin after the aftermath of a detox.
First thing’s first – the moon:
With the new moon in Libra as of 25 September, the darkest phase of the satellite signals a season of release, marking the first lunar event of the Libra season. What does this have to do with you? Well, as it is with any beginning, you might feel inclined to embark upon new ideas, projects or connections. Unlike Virgo season which saw us holding off on the impractical, Libra season guided by the new moon gives us a little more room to be adventurous.
Mercury retrograde:
The new moon comes amidst mercury retrograde, which will end on 2 October. A big sigh for those who thought we were done retrograding, but thankfully alongside the moon’s balance and Libra’s energy, there will be something of a compromise between regressing and moving forward. In short, the reversals you might experience will be for the later good that’ll balance them out, as Annabel Gat, senior Vice astrologer notes.
The equinox:
Astrology enthusiasts have been waiting for the equinox, which also redirects change as the energy of both Aries and Libra zodiacs come into the works. While it may feel like a tug-of-war at times, you can breathe in knowing that this retrograde won’t seem like an attack from all directions, but rather, offer challenges you can understand and interpret.
Libra season:
Alright, now that we’ve got some context for the other characters set to join in on this season of our lives, here’s what you need to know about the main character.
Libra, ruled by Venus, is believed to enhance love, beauty, abundance and connection. Often, these elements aren’t going to translate directly into your traditional ideas of them (although they can) but more so, present opportunities for the elements to enter your life.
According to astrology expert Imani Quinn, as we’re halfway through the zodiac year, we’re caught between reaping growth and planting new seeds in all aspects of our lives. Libra season is about curating the ultimate flow of appreciating what has grown (whether it’s in our relationships, our careers or our inner growth) and deciding what to plant next.
- Craving connection
You might be feeling a little more open – especially when it comes to human connection. Whether it’s friendships or relationships, feeling your social butterfly wings tingling won’t be out of the ordinary. As astrologer Stephanie Campos shares, “as an air sign, Libra season will invite in a more playful and social energy and encourage us to follow our curiosity.”
- Re-evaluating
As you reap the fruits of last season’s labour, you may feel like taking it easy for a while. Instead of stepping back completely, use the time as an opportunity to reflect and re-evaluate on how far you’ve come with clarity to plan your next moves. If you’re feeling let down, it’s time to strategise a new path. If you’re feeling on top of the world, think about how you can attract abundance, not just into your life, but also in the lives around you. Camos says that it’s all about taking stock of what’s worked and what hasn’t.
- Playful spirit
Libra’s are known to possess playful energy. In the zodiac balance, you might feel a need to connect with your inner child or activities you used to love. Feeling a splurge of creativity? Act on it! Remember though, it’s all about working these things into your flow rather than tilting the scales completely.
- Beauty and balance
You might feel a little more inclined to focus on beauty (whether inner or outer) but remember not to get too swept up in self-focus. The key for Libra season is balance, not perfection.
