Did you know that Rooibos holds remarkable benefits for skincare?
It contains antioxidants such as quercetin and aspalathin, shields the skin from free radicals, and curbs premature ageing and oxidative stress. Its anti-inflammatory nature calms skin irritations like acne or sunburns, while its gentle, hydrating qualities make it ideal for sensitive skin types.
Rooibos’ mineral content, including zinc and alpha hydroxy acid, contributes to overall skin health, promoting a natural, healthy glow. Whether it’s used as a toner, foot scrub or a body wrap, its versatility makes it a great all-natural addition to your beauty rituals.

Here are 7 Rooibos beauty treatments you can try at home:
Rooibos face rinse
This simple method refreshes skin and is great for soothing eczema and skin irritations due to the plant’s anti-allergic properties.
Add two Rooibos teabags to three cups of boiled water and allow to cool until lukewarm. Use this mixture to rinse your face. If you suffer skin irritation elsewhere on your body, add a few bags to your bath water to help soothe skin.
Rooibos and lemon toner
This Rooibos and lemon toner, used after cleansing and before moisturising, tightens pores, removes residue, and balances skin pH.
Mix a ¼ cup of strong Rooibos tea (cooled down), with a ¼ cup of lemon juice. Moisten some cotton wool with the cooled Rooibos and lemon mixture to tone your skin. Leave on for 10 minutes, before rinsing with lukewarm Rooibos water (add a tea bag to your rinsing water). Never rinse your face with warm water as this will open the pores.
If you have any of the mixture left, you can store it in an airtight container in your fridge for about a week.
Rooibos, honey and avocado face mask
Combining Rooibos, honey, avocado, and yogurt, this face mask shields from pollutants and fights acne, deeply moisturises, and refines pores. It hydrates, protects, soothes, and nourishes skin and can be done in just 15 minutes.
Add 1 tablespoon of mashed avocado, 1 tablespoon of plain full-fat yoghurt, and 1 tablespoon of honey to 50ml of strong Rooibos tea (cooled down). Mix all the ingredients and apply to skin. Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm Rooibos water.
Tip: you can add a teaspoon of lemon juice which will stop the avo from oxidising and turning brown.
Rooibos face scrub
A mixture of Rooibos tea leaves and honey will do wonders for your skin, by removing dead skin cells and smoothing the skin. Rooibos has anti-inflammatory properties, which can reduce blemishes and scars. Use gentle, circular movements to rid your skin of dead skin cells.
Rooibos treatment for puffy eyes
Use two chilled Rooibos teabags and place on the eyes to soothe puffy eyes. Rooibos will soothe tired and red eyes.
Rooibos foot scrub
Mix Rooibos leaves with grape seed oil and Epsom salts or marine salts to scrub feet. Grape seed oil has antioxidant and moisturising properties that will help to soften and moisturise skin, while Epsom salts are rich in magnesium and sulfates – magnesium has relaxing properties and can help soothe aching limbs
Body wrap:
Liquidise papaya with seeds, mix with Rooibos leaves and use as a body wrap. Wrap with palm leaves or Glad wrap and rinse off with Rooibos water. The enzymes in papaya remove all traces of dry and flaky skin and leave skin hydrated. You can also use it as a face mask. Papaya is rich in vitamin A, which repairs and revitalises the skin.
