Whether it’s a lack of sleep, a diet that’s not up to par, or stress – your skin will be the first to let you know. If you’ve been waking up with puffy eyes or dark rings, then we’ve got some beauty hacks up our sleeves to help you look and feel a little less drained.
Remember though, the real solution is to rest and take care of your health.
Do an overnight mask
Beat the tired skin with a DIY overnight hydration mask. Combine a teaspoon of Vaseline with a few drops of your preferred facial oil (such as jojoba or rosehip) or serum, and gently apply it to your face before bedtime. Vaseline’s properties lock in moisture, while the facial oil nourishes and rejuvenates your skin. You’ll wake up with glowy skin.
Do an ice massage
Curb the puffiness and promote healthy circulation with a simple ice cube facial massage. Wrap an ice cube in a soft cloth and gently glide it over your face in circular motions. This quick hack tightens pores, soothes inflammation, and gives you a glow. If you’re not keen on ice cubes, stick two spoons in the freezer before bed at night, and in the morning, gently press the backs of the frozen spoons to your under eyes.
Do a double cleanse
Bump up your skincare routine with the double cleansing method. Begin by using an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and impurities, followed by a gentle foaming or cream cleanser to thoroughly cleanse your skin. This will make your skin look clearer and brighter.
Do a sheet mask sandwich
Double down on the benefits of a sheet mask with a ‘sheet mask sandwich.’ Before applying the sheet mask, spread a thin layer of hydrating moisturiser or serum on your face. This extra layer of moisture will enhance the absorption of the sheet mask’s nourishing ingredients. Post-sheet mask removal, pat in any remaining moisture for a glowy finish.
Do a lip scrub
Ditch the dry lips for soft, suppleness by adding a quick lip scrub into your routine. Dampen a soft (unused) toothbrush and gently exfoliate your lips in circular motions with a sugar scrub. This removes dead skin cells, leaving your lips smooth and primed for lip balm, tint or oil.
Make your own rosewater and glycerin mist
Make your own facial mist by combining equal parts rosewater and glycerin in a spray bottle. Spritz this refreshing mist onto your face throughout the day to hydrate, soothe, and set your makeup. The combination of rosewater’s soothing properties and glycerin’s hydrating powers will leave your skin looking dewy and fresh.
