1. Anti-ageing wonder
If you’re looking for a natural anti-ageing product, turmeric is one to try. According to the Global Healing Centre, it’s rich in antioxidants, which can help to protect your skin from harmful free radicals and ultraviolet light – which makes skin age faster.
To reap the benefits of turmeric, create a paste using equal parts of turmeric powder, gram flour, and raw milk to exfoliate your skin.
Then, before your bath, slather the paste on your face, or even over your whole body. Once the paste has dried, hop into the bath to scrub it off without soap, and you’ll be left with radiant skin.
2. Breakout buster
Turmeric’s antibacterial and brightening properties make it the perfect solution for pimples.
Mix together this homemade mask to fight off further infections that could contribute to acne:
- A little water to mix a paste
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp chickpea powder
- 1 Tbsp turmeric powder
Apply your homemade turmeric mask to your face and neck, and rinse with cold water once the mask has dried.

Regular use of turmeric can help to slow down facial hair growth. Try this DIY turmeric and mustard oil mask to gently remove fine facial fuzz without irritation:
- Mix 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1tsp gram flour, a few drops of mustard oil (you can substitute with almond oil) and water to make a thick paste.
- Apply the mask, and after 5 minutes gently remove by rubbing in the opposite direction to your hair growth.
Top Tip: This mask is not suitable for those with sensitive skin.
4. Teeth whitening
You can whiten your teeth without buying extra tubes or strips. Plus, you can treat your teeth more often because all the ingredients below are most likely already in your kitchen cupboard.
Create your homemade toothpaste with 2 parts turmeric, 1 part coconut oil and 1 part baking soda. Then, grab your toothbrush, add an ample amount of the turmeric whitening paste and brush normally for 2 minutes. Rinse well and voila!
5. Cracked heels relief
Coconut oil and turmeric make great bedfellows again with this mixture for cracked heels, or other dry patches on your body.
Mix the two power ingredients, adding only a little turmeric, and apply over the troubled area. This will allow your cracked heels to heal faster and soften over time.
