Before you arrive at your luxe holiday destination, you’ve got to endure the long-haul flight. Thanks to highly pressurized cabin air, the less glamorous side of traveling starts to show and your skin becomes dry and uncomfortable, as hydration flies out the window…
If you’re heading on a long-haul flight soon, you’ll want to brace yourself for the intense effects of flying, and prioritize taking care of your skin while in the air. Here we’ve lined up a few top tips on how to maintain healthy, glowing, and hydrated skin while 30 000 ft in the air. All it takes is a little prep!
Get a facial before you fly…
Book a facial close to your departure date and reap the benefits. Getting a facial will open up your pores and help your skin stay hydrated and plump throughout the flight, thanks to all those active ingredients from your treatment!
Skip the makeup…
Board your flight with little to no makeup if possible. If you do wear makeup on board, take it off before settling in for sleep. Or do your makeup just before you land.
Pro Tip: Make-up remover wipes are great, but to be more earth conscious, try drenching a few cotton pads in Micellar Water and storing them in a compact container to remove your makeup.
Stay hydrated…
This is of utmost importance! Keep yourself and your skin hydrated because you will become dehydrated while flying. Staying hydrated will help combat jet lag as too. Keep knocking back that H20!
Get wet…
Keep a travel-sized face mist on hand to get your hydration on lock. Remember to apply your moisturiser too – to your face and body will thank you! If you have a long layover, take a quick bathroom break and give your face a good wash, so you feel refreshed and recharged.
Pro Tip: You can actually do your entire skincare routine on a flight, just ensure your hands are clean and sanitized.
Hydrating products only!
While onboard, remove your makeup with a cleanser, micellar water, and eye make remover. Then apply a hydrating serum containing hyaluronic acid, which will help to draw moisture into the skin and keep your complexion hydrated.
SPF, always!
Even on a flight, SPF is very important. Apply SPF before you depart, as well as just before you land, to protect your skin from UV Rays.
Don’t forget the lips…
Your lips can become really dry and chapped on a flight, so remember to keep them hydrated and moisturized with a lip balm. If it’s an overnight flight, you can apply a lip scrub.
