- If your neck goes red and patchy when you’re stressed, gently smooth on a green base under your foundation to take the redness down. On faces it can look strange, but necks are different.
- Eye shadow that drifts into creases ages eyes. Prevent it from happening by smoothing eye primer over lids using the pads of your ring finger to create a smooth, even surface. Try CK One Colour Eye Shadow Base, R220
- We love skin primers that moisturise deeply and leave skin gorgeously soft. Slipped under make-up, it will smooth skin and lock onto colour.
- Pore perfectors are a favourite of make-up artists, as they mop up oil and leave skin ultra-smooth. Dot and blend over skin to disguise larger pores and hold back shine. We love Clinique Pore Refining solutions Instant Perfector, R250 in three shades.
- Shine controllers are bliss for overheated, slightly oily, hot-flushed skin. Skim a light lotion like Clarins Hydra Quench Cream-Gel, R535, over skin to hold back shine and keep it matte and fresh all day long.
- If your eyes have a hooded look, keep eye make-up simple. Stick to one shade right over the lids and use just a little liner pencil in a deeper shade on the outer corner of your eyes.
- Make eyes look instantly brighter and awake, by dabbing a hint of white or subtle shimmer to the corner of the inner eyes, just above the tear duct. Try MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna, R240.
- Poreless and flawless, the hallmark of young-looking skin is something we can achieve with the perfect primer. The things that age skin most aren’t lines and wrinkles, but enlarged pores, age spots, thread veins and uneven skin. Use a nude, matte primers then add a hint of shimmer to brows, cheeks and lips to bring back a youthful gleam to your face.
- Polished skin is the key to keeping several layers of nude make-up looking fresh. So remember to always take care of your skin, as clean pores look smaller than dirty pores.
- Use a big fluffy brush to sweep a faux glow over cheekbones, forehead, cleavage and brow bones – places that catch colour in the sun. The best contain several shades that blend.
