Here are 5 steps to master the biggest spring beauty trend:
Step 1: Set the canvas
The best way to achieve a flawless finish is to ensure that your skin is primed and ready. First, apply moisturiser and additional SPF to clean skin. Then, apply primer. Not sure if a primer is necessary? Our Beauty Editor swears by a good-quality primer because it helps to conceal large pores, even out the skin tone and improve it’s overall texture.
One of our favorite primers is Filorga Pore-Express Primer, R490 for 30ml . it contains four active ingredients plus a potent collagen booster to create a soft, smooth complexion.
Step 2: Keep it sheer
Next up, apply a sheer layer of foundation. To make this ‘coral-kissed’ look work, flawless, barely-there foundation is a must!
New and fab for summer is L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation, RRSP R230 for 30ml . It has a lightweight, buildable and sweat-proof formula, while giving you the coverage you need for hours. A perfect pick for hot summer days.
Step 3: Add a pop of colour to eyes lips and cheeks
With ageing comes dry, flaky skin thanks to a loss of moisture and collagen. To combat this and keep skin looking fresh and dewy, opt for make-up with a creamy texture rather than stiff powder formulations that tend to sink into the skin.
One of the best ways to achieve this look is to grab a coral lippie and use it three ways! Yep, you simply pop a tiny bit on your eyelids, cheeks and lips for subtle, but sure luminosity! Don’t be scared to use your lippie this way – it’s the key to nailing this spring beauty trend.
A great product to achieve this look is the coral-hued, matte Max Factor Colour Elixir Matte Bullet Lipstick in Sunkiss, R159,95 . It glides on skin and is natural enough to blend perfectly with your complexion.

Get the look
Our Beauty Editor used this lipstick when she created the look, and applied it straight from the tube onto the model’s eyelids. She then did the same for her cheeks, and she finished the look by dabbing a little onto the model’s lips for the ultimate glossy glow.
Step 4: Accentuate the eyes
Finish the look off with your favourite volumising waterproof mascara such as Lancôme Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara, R360. The brush is designed to create thicker, fuller lashes with every stroke, it’s incredible!

Step 5: Lock it all in
If you want to extend the life of this coral make-up look, use a blusher brush to simply dust a little blush over your eyes, lips and cheeks. Try Urban Decay Naked Flushed in the shade Streak, R575, it’s the multi-purpose blusher, bronzer and highlighter in one. This lightweight compact powder not only fixes make-up but enhances the complexion too, bonus!
