Beauty expert Jo Glanville-Blackburn highlights her favourite energising pick-me-ups – easy to fit into every day, guaranteed to freshen your look and give you glowing skin.
Clever combo
For ageless beauty, remember to use both cream and concealer. Lancôme’s two-step, dual purpose Rénergie Yeux Multiple Lift Eye Cream, R795, is a brilliant eye cream with a built-in concealer in the lid. Then, use a primer or serum with silicone to make fine lines and pores vanish – temporarily! Smear one on before foundation and be amazed. I love Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch, R375.
Get luminous
“At 40, you need to pay attention to your skin,” says make-up artist Clare Ray. “Unless you struggle with acne, don’t use thick foundations. Instead, you need luminosity. I like shades slightly warmer than the skin tone. Personally, I haven’t had so many compliments since I started using Givenchy Photo’Perfexion Fluid Foundation SPF 20, R 2,546.00, which sets like a fine layer of latex, and looks good hours later.”
Seamlessly smooth
Focus make-up on the smoother parts of your face, such as your cheeks (avoid highlighting areas with lines). Blush is so anti-ageing. Choose a creamy texture that blends seamlessly, such as the gorgeous new YSL Creme de Blush, R1767 for a youthful, natural effect. To apply, suck in your cheeks and blend the bronze tone into the hollows to contour, then the coral on the apples, and blend together.
