In the past decades, South Korea has made incredible advancements in the world of skincare. Korean skin care (K-Beauty) has quickly overtaken leading Western skincare technologies. We’ve shared our breakdown on K-Beauty and how to start your own K-Beauty journey. Now, we’re honing in on one aspect of Korean skincare which most of us have already come to know and love: the sheet mask.
According to a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, sheet masks prevent fast evaporation of water from the skin, which then enhances effects of the active ingredients used in the mask. Because of the extra time and excessive moisture that sheet masks have, the active ingredients in the mask sink into the skin more effectively.
Like a kind of slugging, sheet masks lock in the moisture and enhance benefits of the ingredients used in the mask. But how do we know which mask to choose for our exact skin concerns? Let’s take a look at some of the best masks (tried and tested by me) available, and what they help for, and where to find them.
