October has arrived. And you know what that means? Pumpkin spice season is here! I don’t know about you, but I could thrive off at least one pumpkin-spiced latte from Starbucks a day, but unfortunately, that’s not realistic. Luckily, you can make your own Pumpkin Spice at home, and it’s not so complicated. Here’s how…with a few cosy season extras!
Whipping up pumpkin spice
While a classic Pumpkin Spice latte may give off a strong, delicious flavour profile that appears complicated, it’s actually very easy to whip up. All you need is a handful of these spices, and a sealable jar or container!
Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup ground cinnamon
• 2 tbsp ground ginger
• 2 tsp ground nutmeg
• 2 tsp ground cloves
• 2 tsp allspice
Method:
1. All you need to do is toss the spices into a sealable jar or container, mix them up and voila! You have a handy jar of Pumpkin Spice mix that you can use for coffee, cakes, and cookies.

Ingredients:
• 1½ cups sugar
• 1½ cups water
• 6 cinnamon sticks
• 1 tsp ground cloves
• 1 tsp ground ginger
• 2 tsp ground nutmeg
• 4 Tbsp puréed pumpkin
Method:
1. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
2. Once sugar is dissolved, add cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, ginger, nutmeg and pumpkin purée, and let simmer for 20 minutes.
3. Remove from heat and immediately strain through cheesecloth, and voila! Pumpkin Spice syrup.
Makes enough syrup for 8 beverages. Keeps up to 7 days in the fridge!
Add to your coffee
Now, all you need to do is brew some of your favourite coffee, froth some milk – if that’s your vibe – and pour it into a cup with either your Pumpkin Spice spice or syrup. End it off with a squeeze of sweetened whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for that extra Starbucks flair!
