There are 2 diets that we recommend, and here’s why:
Research now shows that 2 diets can be effective, making your choice of eating plan so much easier.
Long-term studies by the John Hopkins University have found that Weight Watchers and Atkins are among the most effective in helping you shed those extra kilos in the long term.
Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers showed evidence of long-term success. It is a high-intensity programme that uses goal setting, self- monitoring, nutritional information and counselling and is a calorie controlled diet, which assigns every food a point value, based on its protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre.
Atkins
A self-directed programme, the Atkins Diet scored well revealing people using the high protein, low carb diet lost more weight after one year than people dieting on their own or getting diet tips from another source.
The studies also showed that programmes based on the Atkins diet helped dieters lose more weight at six months and 12 months than counselling alone and their approach appears promising.
The Atkins Diet is claimed to limit blood sugar and insulin spikes, which cause cravings and hunger, and overeating and weight gain is the end result of this.
