If you succumb to a cold or flu over the coming winter months, give yourself a lift with these helpful revivers…
STEAM… to clear your head of stuffiness
A facial steam will give you some relief from a blocked nose, and it’s an interesting way to give your skin a deep clean, too!
Aromatherapy guru Glenda Taylor recommends you take three drops each of rosemary, cedarwood, and grapefruit essential oils, adding them to a bowl of hot water.

Pop a towel over your head, bend over the steam, and breathe it in for a few minutes.
Top Tip: Cedarwood helps promote deep breathing, rosemary freshens skin and grapefruit uplifts.
BOOST… your system with an ages-old herbal tea
Give yourself a lift with a soothing tea, says herbalist Dee Atkinson.
This blend is based on a turn-of-the-century recipe for colds. To make, pour three mugs of water into a pan. Add a 5cm piece of cinnamon stick and 8 cloves, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
Turn off the heat, add a teaspoon of dried rosemary, re-cover and let it infuse for a further five minutes. Strain, then add lemon juice and honey to taste.

SOOTHE… away a winter cold with a spicy hot drink
Herbalist Meral Prince suggests trying this herbal cuppa: combine 1tsp dried ginger root with three cloves, ½tsp each of ginseng powder and aniseed, and a cup of water. Simmer, strain, and then drink to soothe your cold and boost your energy.
HYDRATE… your body
Upping your water intake thins mucus and reduces congestion – especially helpful if you suffer from sinus problems.
