10 year old, Quinn Young, from Inverness has become one of the youngest people to conquer all 282 Munro mountains in Scotland!
The Munros are famous mountain peaks in Scotland that are more than 3000ft (914m) high and this little champion climbed them all. This is by far a proud moment, she can definitely tick that one off the bucket list, and we are inspired.
The climb
Quinn started her climbing journey as an adventure with her dad at the age of four years old and completed the climb of Ben Nevis after turning five. In an interview with BBC Scotland, she shared:
“I feel proud of myself, but also a little upset because the adventure with dad kind of finished.”
Completing her ‘Munro bagging’ was Quinn’s goal before she had to start primary school. What an achievement! She previously completed 100 Munros last August and was determined to finish all 282.
Little Young took each Munro in her stride but never once complained. Of course, safety was the primary focus for dad.
Although there weren’t “massively hair moments” according to her father, the safety of the climbs were always assessed and they turned back if they needed to.
He continues to say that “it was a great adventure and it was all about going at her pace.”
Father – Daughter bonding time
The father and daughter climbing duo shares this special activity. Quinn shared why the moment of achievement meant so much:
“It’s a big deal because it’s something I’ve been doing with my dad since I was four.”
We cannot imagine the training, the drive, and the determination it took to complete this. Sometimes Lions Head is difficult to climb but we’ve got a new burst of motivation thanks to Quinn and her dad.
Words of encouragement
Her dad said,”the encouragement from other people was absolutely fantastic when this young little toot is walking up there.”
We hope this could be an encouragement to you too. Not to go out and possibly climb 282 mountain peaks but to push through something and stay determined on your goals.
Quinn might have started when she was four but it’s never too late to set a new goal and work toward it.
