5 Fun Facts About Caster Semenya

Caster Semenya’s name is on everyone’s lips, so we thought we’d share 5 fun facts you may not know about South Africa’s athlete-of-the-moment:

1. Caster is married – last year, Caster married her long-time girlfriend Violet Raseboya in a beautiful traditional ceremony. Violet is also an athlete.
2. She now calls Potch home – In an interview with BBC, Caster referred to Potchefstroom, the town where she has settled, “paradise”.
3. She’s a student too – Caster is studying Sports Science at The University of Pretoria.
4. She’s an Eminem fan – In an interview with The Sunday Times, Caster said she loves Eminem’s song, I’m Not Afraid, because the lyrics motivate her.
5. She trained herself – Caster didn’t always have a big team behind her, and grew up in an area where there weren’t many resources for aspiring athletes.
