On Monday night. 8 August 2022, local artists joined together to put on a production like no other, ‘An Ode To Women’ which sold out at The Grandest West Arena in Cape Town.
Robin Pieters, a local artist and performer was one of the main organisers of the event alongside Craig Lucas, winner of the The Voice South Africa season 2. They collaborated with past idols winners Karin Kortjie, Sasha-Lee Davids, Jody Williams, Yanga Sobetwa and the most recent Idols SA season 17 winner, Berry.
Both Robin & Craig felt that as male performers in the industry they needed to celebrate the women and the amazing talent and gifts they bring to the music world. “We say it often, but we will say it again… you, our queens, our oumas, moms, sisters, wives, friends, you made us who we are,” says Robin.
The concert sold out the Grandest Arena, filing 5000 thousand seats where fans gathered and sang their hearts out all evening. One supporter said “I sang song after song, cried my heart out. There is nothing like good South African talent”
Seem like we don’t always need the big acts coming from international countries as we have all the local talent right here on our doorstep.
