Margot Robbie, the 32-year-old Australian actress set to star in the upcoming Barbie film out in July, has just graced the cover of Vogue’s summer issue in true Barbie fashion.
The actress, who found her breakout role in Wolf Of Wall Street and then later in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Babylon, approached Mattel (creator of Barbie) to produce & star in the official Barbie picture in 2018.
Despite attempts from actors like Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway vying to bring Barbie to the big screen in the past, Margot along with her husband Tom Ackerly succeeded in obtaining rights for the film through their production company, LuckyChap.
Filmmaker and writer Greta Gerwig along with partner Noah Baumbach also joined the team, assuming the creative lead of scriptwriting and direction for the Barbie film, due on the big screen in July.

Margot was never a Barbie fanatic
In her cover interview with Vogue, Margot shares that she never particularly enjoyed playing Barbie growing up:
“It wasn’t that I ever wanted to play Barbie, or dreamt of being Barbie, or anything like that,”
“This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn’t even think about playing Barbie until years into developing the project.”
The actress acknowledges that while the film aims to honour the legacy of the brand which dates back to the 1960s, the people who aren’t fans of and have a real issue with Barbie must be acknowledged in the film, too.
