Yesterday marked the 65th annual Grammy ceremony – the world’s most prestigious music awards. Hosted by Trevor Noah, the event saw many of the globe’s most loved artists like Adele, ABBA, Mary J. Blige, and Brandi Carlile all rake in major accolades at the event. But who took the cake?
None other than queens Beyoncé and Viola Davis! Both artists made history with their Grammy wins this year. Beyonce broke the record for the most Grammy wins of all time with a startling 32 awards, and Viola Davis earned EGOT status – the achievement of having won all four of the major American entertainment awards. An Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony.

Despite losing in the prestigious album of the year category for the fourth time in nomination, Beyoncé raked in multiple awards during the awards ceremony for her celebrated 2022 album. Renaissance.
The accolades kept rolling, with Queen B winning ‘Best Dance/Electronic Music Album’ for her album Renaissance, Best R&B Song for her track, Cuff It, Best Traditional R&B Performance of the year for Plastic Off The Sofa, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording for her catchy Break My Soul track.

In an Instagram post celebrating her Grammy wins, Beyoncé wrote:
Viola Davis
The awe-inspiring Viola Davis earned an EGOT, having won all four major entertainment awards. With an Emmy, Oscar and Tony already under her belt, Davis completed the coveted status by earning a grammy for the audiobook voicing of her bestselling 2022 memoir, Finding Me.
Viola is the first black woman in history to earn EGOT award, and is the 18th person to receive an EGOT in history. Viola took to stage to accept her award, sharing a teary, heartfelt thank you:
“I wrote this book to honour the six-year-old Viola, to honour her life, her joy, her trauma, everything. And it has just been such a journey, I just EGOT!”

Viola then went on to thank her family and everyone who had been involved in the making of her story:
“To everybody who was a part of my story, and the best chapter yet – my loves, Julias and Genesis, you are my love, my life, you are the best chapter in my book. Thank you.”
