With great sadness, the news came that Lisa Marie Presley —the only daughter of rock and roll music icon Elvis Presley and actress Pricilla Presley—died at the age of 54.
Her mother told the Associated Press:
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
The life of Lisa Marie Presley
Born in Memphis, Tennesse – Marie was a mother to 4 children. 3 beautiful young girls. Sadly in July 2020, her son, Benjamin Keough, reportedly died by suicide due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
With a beautiful passion for music, she followed in her father’s footsteps as a singer and songwriter and had three records of her own throughout her life including ‘To Whom It May Concern’ in 2003, which was certified gold, ‘Now What’ in 2005 and ‘Storm & Grace’ in 2012.
During her life, she oversaw the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation after her father’s passing. She was dedicated to making sure his legacy of charitable efforts continued far beyond his lifetime.
Her heartbreaking passing
Lisa Marie was first rushed to West Hill Hospital and Medical Centre in California on Thursday 12 January 2023 after going into cardiac arrest. According to TMZ, she was found unresponsive at her home in Calabasas, California and her former husband, Danny Keough arrived and performed CPR.
EMTs were able to revive the singer-songwriter via CPR. At the hospital a few hours later, she was put into a medically induced coma because her condition was critical. Page Six reported that Lisa Marie had ” coded multiple times” after the cardiac arrest and that there appeared to be no drugs on the scene.
It is during this time that we realise how short life is. Lisa Marie’s passing came just after she attended the 2023 80th Golden Globe awards. Alongside her mother, they went to support Austin Butler, who won the award for best performance in a drama for his portrayal of her father in Baz Luhrman’s “Elvis.”

Tears were shed when Butler took the stage to accept his award. During his speech, he said, “Thank you guys, thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”
TMZ reported on Thursday that Lisa Marie had actually been dealing with stomach pains on the day of the award show.
An official cause of death will be determined at a later time but her mother has asked for some privacy.
“We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.”
Our sympathies go out to the Presley family.
