With Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez announcing their engagement, it is feeling a lot like the 2000s are back! Not to mention Britney Spears being pregnant, low cut jeans and oversized menswear being back in fashion – as noted on Twitter earlier this week.

Ben and Jen – or ‘Bennifer’ as they were coined them back in the day – seem to once again be a symbol of the times. One where our nostalgia for the noughties has brought the era back around. Even the celeb couples are back in style!
A quick recap of their history
The Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez engagement was announced by Jen through her On the JLo newsletter on Friday, April 8th. This is the couple’s second try at getting hitched. Ben and Jen were first engaged in November 2002, but they never reached the altar. The excessive media attention was given as the reason why the Bennifer wedding was cancelled just days before its September 2003 date. The couple officially split the following year. Since then, the pair have had very full, separate lives.
Ben Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner for 13 years before divorcing in 2018. In this time they had daughters Violet (16) and Seraphina (13) as well as son Samuel (10). Jennifer Lopez has was married to Marc Antony from 2004 to 2014. They share twins Emme and Maximilian (14). And both have had enjoyed busy and successful careers over the years too!
