Christall Kay has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after sharing a heartfelt tribute to the late billionaire Douw Steyn, revealing that they were once engaged.

The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: South Africa star took to Instagram following Steyn’s passing on Tuesday at the age of 72, describing him as a “genius, an incredible businessman, a loving father, and the utmost gentleman.”
Alongside a video montage of old photos, she reflected on their time together. Stating:
“Today, I am overcome with sweet memories and tears hearing of the passing of billionaire Douw Steyn. My gentle, kind heart, who filled my life with such excitement, passion, adventure, and love!”
She also revealed that they “did life together for a while, both the triumphs and tragedies” and thanked him for his love and generosity.

Backlash over Christall’s post
While some offered condolences, many criticised Christall for insensitivity, given that Steyn had long moved on and was married at the time of his passing.

“Chrissy is love you and all but dont you think this is a little insensitive🥹 considering he has a wife now & kids. I can imagine how awful it would be for them to see this❤️ its all love though”
