A legend in his own right, who brought so much joy as the ‘narrator of South Africa’; Jeremy Mansfield’s voice and life will be sorely missed.
Monday morning came with tragic news for the Mansfield family and the rest of South Africa. Mansfield passed on in the early hours of the morning at his family home. It is said that he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the presence of his family and loved ones.
Tributes for the 59-year-old radio personality have poured in on social media from industry colleagues, lifetime friends as well as the many, many fans whose lives he touched over the years.
Rest in Peace Jeremy Mansfield. The blueprint. The man who paved the path for us in radio. Rest now chap.

Media and radio personality Anele Mdoda tweeted that Mansfield really was the blueprint for so many who are successful today.
A giant oke has fallen – I have known Jeremy #Mansfield since I was two. We share common ancestry. He was a superhero to me as a kid and I was in awe of his brilliance as an adult. He brought joy, and occasional rage, to millions. Well done Jem.

Even when SA radio lost its sense of humour, Jeremy Mansfield never did. He was utterly irreverent and original, never taking himself too seriously, providing laughs for days. Loved his sport too. A wonderful radio man, a wonderful man. Bless his family.

Clinton van der Berg wrote that Mansfield’s humour was always so comforting even at times when we as a country did not always have the capacity to laugh about current situations.
Mansfield was battling with stage 4 liver cancer and had shared in August that his diagnosis was terminal. We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Mansfield family and to all his loved ones.
