The latest in Hollywood’s diet culture craze has everyone from celebrities to reality stars cottoning on to the ‘miracle drug’ for weight loss. Ozempic has historically been a medication used to treat patients with type 2 diabetes, however, now is being used as a weight-loss hack for the who’s who of Hollywood.
Now, type 2 diabetes patients are facing a huge issue of low availability of Ozempic medication. Why? It’s all being sold on the black market, to those looking to shed a quick kilo…
What is Ozempic
Ozempic is a drug prescribed for patients with type 2 diabetes. In recent years however doctors have been prescribing it to patients who seek to or need to lose weight. The drug is injected into one of three spots on the body – the stomach, arms, or thighs. Semaglutide is then released into the blood.
According to a report by the New York Post, semaglutide is classified as “a compound that helps the pancreas release the right amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high.”
Some celebrities have openly spoken out about using the drug for weight loss, while others have been accused but have not confirmed or denied allegations. Among those who have admitted to using Ozempic, is Chelsea Handler, claiming that she was unaware that she was even on the drug…
Handler sat down with podcast host, Alex Cooper, admitting:
“So, my anti-aging doctor just hands it out to anybody,”
“I didn’t even know I was on it.”
She also went on to recall her speech at the Critic Choice Awards:
“For those of you who don’t know, gaslighting is when someone tries to convince you that your own perceptions of reality are wrong. Like when celebrities say they lost weight by drinking water, but really it’s because everyone’s on Ozempic.”
She further went on to say:
“I’m not on it anymore…” “I’m an irresponsible drug user, but I’m not gonna take a diabetic drug. I tried it, and I’m not gonna do that. That’s not for me. That’s not right for me.”

Another celebrity called out for using Ozempic is Khloe Kardashian. who technically denied the claims and stated that she is in the gym 4 – 5 times a week. That’s not to say she is or isn’t using it, though, right?
People who have used the drug before are now taking to social media to share side effects they experienced of taking Ozempic.
One of the most frequently mentioned has been dubbed the dreaded ‘ozempic face’. This side effect causes rapid weight loss in the fact, which then ends up ‘ageing’ at a faster rate, growing saggy and droopy.
