Jane Fonda has been a household name in TV for over 60 years. After turning 85 in December last year, Fonda still hasn’t lost her spark and says that her skills – both on and off screen, have only improved with age and she has no plans to retire anytime soon.
Who says that passion fizzles with age? Not Jane! At the premiere of her new film, 80 For Brady, in Los Angeles on Tuesday earlier this week, Jane shared that, just like a fine wine, her qualities have only gotten better with age. In chatting about the older cast for the upcoming film, Fonda said:
“We’ve all stayed healthy and we were just there, ready – so who else are they gonna hire?”
This bold, can-do attitude came just a year after Fonda took to Instagram to share news that she had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a form of skin cancer.
Since then, the Grace and Frankie star has gone into remission from the disease after completing a final round of chemotherapy in November last year, just a month before her 85th birthday.
As a cancer survivor and Hollywood star with an extensive career spanning over 50 productions, two Academy Awards, a slew of classic home workout videos and strong involvement in human rights and political activism, Jane Fonda is a shining example of how, when you put your mind to it, you can achieve and do great things.
“I think, as you get older, you get better at almost everything. I love my work more than ever,” said Fonda, in an interview with The Telegraph(opens in new tab).
Fonda went on to explain that she feels lucky to be “old at a time when older people, mostly women, are the fastest-growing demographic in the world.”
Age is not a disadvantage, so don’t fool yourself into thinking so!
