Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux, officially set off for Mexico on Sunday to compete in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant on 16 November.
Making history as the first-ever deaf contestant to represent South Africa at the pageant, Mia is on a mission to showcase the country’s diversity and promote inclusivity on the global stage.

Miss South Africa and Le Roux treated fans to some stunning photos on Instagram of the 28 dressed in an elegant red ensemble by designer Juan William Aria. The photos showcased her send off and were accompanied by a caption that read:
“South Africa…I carry you with me! Excited for the journey of a lifetime to begin! Are you ready?”

Mia recently revealed her official advocacy campaign, Mia’s Movement, launched through Miss Universe’s Voice for Change initiative. Her campaign focuses on social issues, advocating for gender equality, and inspiring communities to support projects that bring about inclusivity. Her mission? To work alongside government bodies, corporations, and NGOs to fund cochlear implants and lead inclusive projects that empower the deaf community.
