Just weeks after causing a stir in the Afrikaans community – population: 44, Charlize Theron has gone viral once again. South Africans are buzzing after discovering footage posted to TikTok by the Tully star herself.
In the viral video, which has amassed over 130 000 views on TikTok, Charlize is seen planted on the toilet donning a headscarf of sorts, chanting about her trip to the loo.

The video was posted to the platform in 2021 and has resurfaced now, after a fellow South African posted about it on Twitter.

Well, what’s the deal Charlize, are you alright?
As cringe as it is, there is more to the viral video. The video was first posted over 10 years ago in 2012 to FunnyOrDie by a user crediting Charlize for the footage. According to reports, the user had gotten hold of the video from a friend’s phone. The video had first been filmed by Theron as an ‘April fools’ joke.
Those of us who were still in high school when the video first surfaced will remember how the footage had been doing the rounds on the then-popular app, Vine.
That’s not where it ends, though. In truth, Charlize can’t take credit for the toilet jingle. A user named @eedabc123 on YouTube is the true creator of the viral hit.

Does the fact that the video was filmed over 10 years ago by someone else make it a little less cringe? Perhaps, but why would Theron drudge it up from the past? Some things just belong where we left ’em.
If I’m being honest with you, at least 80% of my high school friend group (myself included) did a rendition of this video back in the day. Shameful, I know. But I would flee to distant lands if my video ever resurfaced on the internet…
At least we know Charlize is fine, right?
