Céline Dion, the iconic singer behind hits such as My Heart Will Go On, is facing a challenging battle with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder.
The 55-year-old artist disclosed her diagnosis in December 2022, leading to the cancellation of her ‘Courage World Tour’.
In a recent distressing update shared by her sister Claudette Dion with Canada’s 7 Jours, it was revealed that Céline has “lost control of her muscles.”
Claudette, 74, expressed:
“What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard.”
This update arrives after earlier revelations from Dion’s sister about uncontrollable “spasms” due to the illness.
Despite the illness, Céline still wishes to get back on stage.
Claudette mentioned: “It’s true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know.”
Despite her health challenges, Céline took to social media in October, posting pictures of herself along with her three sons at an ice hockey match. Her caption expressed gratitude to the Montreal Canadiens for a memorable meeting after the game.
Fans have rallied around the singer, offering well-wishes and prayers for her speedy recovery.
Stiff Person Syndrome, affecting about one in a million people, causes progressive stiffness in the torso, arms, and legs.
