Paüse Coffee Roastery began as a micro-roasting home project for founder Wessel Kruger. After seven years, he established the roastery in the Garden Route with the goal of sharing his ‘coffee-drinking joy with fellow coffee enthusiasts everywhere.’

2. Terbodore Coffee Roasters in Howick
If you’re looking for a quality cup of coffee at a quality restaurant, Terbodore in Howick is your best bet. They roasted their first batch of beans in 2004, and although the business has grown, their commitment to serving only the best coffee hasn’t changed.

3. Stereo Coffee Roasters in Bloemfontein
Stereo Cafe started in 2011 as a coffee stall at a farmers market, where filter coffee and roasted beans were sold to customers. Owner James Kilbourn soon decided he wanted to take this business further and attended the London School of Coffee to learn more about roasting and blending.
In 2014, he officially opened Stereo Cafe and welcomed all those looking for tasty coffee and locally roasted beans.
In 2022, Kilbourn sold the cafe to focus solely on roasting the best-quality beans for their customers.

In 1984, the Buckland family began growing coffee beans in the beautiful town of Hazyview. They soon realised that to succeed in the competitive coffee world, they would need to add roasting, packaging, and distributing their beans to their repertoire.

6. Origin Roasting in Cape Town
Joel Singer began Origin in 2006 with the aim to provide exceptionally roasted coffee to South Africans. Origin supplies some of the top restaurants and cafes.
If you feel like learning more about Artisan roasting, you can visit the Origin Headquarters in De Waterkant, Cape Town, to watch the roasting process, meet the artisans, partake in a cupping session, and taste the fresh coffee.
7. Bluebird Coffee Roastery in Durban
Bluebird Coffee Roastery is a Durban-based business that produces specialty-grade coffee beans from world-class experts. Dario Scilipoti believes in having fun and making a difference, which is exactly what he does with his company, Bluebird Coffee Roastery.
The company aims to give you access to quality coffee and connect you to those who farmed and produced the delicious beans.
