DJ Koula is hitting the airwaves again in South Africa after being away for 12 years, picking up the mic at 919, a feel-good community station in Joburg.
DJ Koula will be diving back into radio with her new show, Stateside Connection, after a 12-year hiatus, airing on Saturdays from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Starting on campus radio, Koula Budler went on to make her mark at big names like 5FM and 947, over a decade ago. Now, she’s excited to be back, focusing on South Africans who are making a splash overseas and helping to tighten the bonds within the diaspora.
“I will be interviewing South Africans across the world who are blazing their own trails and achieving success in new countries,” she shared, as per The Citizen.
Despite her return to South African radio, Koula isn’t moving back from Texas, where she’s lived for the past 12 years. She’ll be hosting her show right from her home in Texas, bright and early from 6 am to 8 am her time.
“Once a Joburger, always a Joburger,” said 919’s station manager, Caren du Preez, thrilled to have Koula back on board. “She is an amazing talent, and she’s always just been nothing but real!
Taking to social media to share the exciting news, DJ Koula wrote:
