We love the idea of getting out for a day of warm sunshine and great entertainment at lively spring festivals.
We’ve rounded up the top 3 spring festivals across the country:
The Witness Garden Show
There’s no better way to show your enthusiasm for spring than by giving your flowerbeds some TLC. The Witness Garden Show is paradise for outdoor aficionados, offering some fabulous flowerscape concepts and floral art workshops. If you need a break from potting soil and hedge trimmers at some point during the day, there are plenty of alternatives, from a dog show to cake icing demonstrations to a fashion runway and a quilting expo. The biggest garden show in southern Africa has something for everyone!

Hermanus Whale Festival
Between August and October is the peak time to watch these majestic mammals migrate, so get yourself a good spot at South Africa’s only enviro-arts festival – Hermanus Whale Festival. There’s no spring experience like seeing Southern Right Whales leaping out of the ocean, especially when you’re situated in what is considered the best land-based whale watching site on earth. In between watching these gentle giants, take the kids to the Pirates and Mermaids treasure hunts (Saturday and Sunday), browse crafts on Market Square, sing along at the Oldies but Goldies Tribute Show, and help yourself to a delectable selection of epicurean delights.
