31-year-old Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, has tragically passed away after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.

Police reports state that the former boyband singer fell to his death from the third floor of a hotel on Costa Rica Street in Palermo.
The BBC states that Buenos Aires police initially responded to reports “of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol”.
Arriving at the hotel, officials were notified about a loud sound that had been heard in the hotel’s interior courtyard. There, officers discovered the body of former One Direction member, Liam Payne. An investigation was launched.
The BBC adds that emergency medical services director Alberto Crescenti said that Payne had suffered “serious injuries” and that an autopsy would be carried out.
Payne was one of five individuals who formed the British band after participating in The X Factor UK.
After gaining international fame, the boyband – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Payne – parted ways, with many of the singers going on to release their solo debuts, including Payne.
In 2019, Payne released his first solo album and in March of 2024, he released an LP, Teardrops.
Payne welcomed a son, Bear Grey Payne, in 2017 with former Girls Aloud member, Cheryl Cole.
