Charlotte Hope, who played Myranda in Game of Thrones and headlined Starz’s The Spanish Princess as Catherine of Aragon, stars in Catch Me A Killer as Micki Pistorius, South Africa’s first-ever serial-killer profiler – which has made waves on the international stage.
What is Catch Me A Killer about?
Catch Me A Killer is based on the memoir of South Africa’s first female profiler, Micki Pistorius. The show aims to showcase her experience of understanding the psychology of serial killers to help the police catch and prosecute them.
The first episode of the series premiered on Showmax this week, and it’s already receiving rave reviews. It’s been named the first South African series to crack the top international festival SeriesMania.
The show will be a 10-part series, following Micki Pistorius as she tracks down some of South Africa’s most notorious killers, including Stewart Wilken and Anthony Sowell (aka the Cleveland Killer).
In a recent interview, Hope, who has captivated audiences in Game of Thrones and Spanish Princess says that there is a lot more to this true crime show than the basic “Who Done It?” trope. She says Catch Me A Killer is more of a “whydunit.”
Hope also shared that she jumped at the opportunity to star in this role, saying that “my agent sent me the scripts and, genuinely, they were the best scripts I’d read in a long time.”
Despite it being a very South African story, Hope states that Pistorius’s story resonated with her and that “Even though [she’s] not South African, [she] can still understand [P Pistorius]” and tried to portray as accurately as possible.
Acting alongside the British actress are a few South African stars, including Steven Ward, Louw Venter, and newcomer Donna Cormack-Thomson.
