Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will hit shelves worldwide on Sunday, 31 July. But, it is already said to be the largest publishing event of the season and it’s currently the most pre-ordered book since 2007 when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released.
It is definitely a welcomed boom to the publishing industry. Mary Amicucci, chief merchandising officer at Barnes & Noble, said, “We expect it to be our biggest selling book of the year.” Which is easy to believe if past J.K Rowling sales are anything to go by where some Harry Potter books sold 8.3 million copies on the first day.
If you’re a Harry Potter fan or your kids are in love with the magical world of Hogwarts, this new continuation of the beloved story is an exciting dream come true. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a script that is currently being produced on stage in London and tickets to the play are currently sold out. J.K Rowling decided to release the script as a book for all the fans who won’t be able to travel to London, and watch the story of Harry’s youngest child Albus and his struggle at Hogwarts.
If you want to get your hands on a copy, you can place an online order with Takealot for R239. Or, if you’re in Cape Town, you can head to the Book Lounge and purchase a copy on Sunday.
