Feeling a bit under the weather because you have to return to work and your regular routine? Well, you are not alone. Around the start of the year, a lot of people suffer from a holiday hangover because they may find that getting back to their regular routine requires a lot of effort.
According to the Urban dictionary, a holiday hangover is a feeling of depression or overall melancholy when the holiday season has passed, having to go back to work and/or school is a major factor in holiday hangover symptoms.
Here are a few ways to help you conquer the holiday blues and help you get back into the groove of things:
Identify the holiday hangover
It is important to know what exactly you are going through so that you are able to deal with it properly. It is almost impossible to cure something that you do not know or cannot identify. The minute you know the issue at hand, you are then able to take the necessary and correct steps in combating it.
Talk about it
You’d be surprised to know that almost everyone is dealing with a holiday hangover. According to Sysgen, sharing your thoughts with your colleagues or friends about your recent escapade can be therapeutic and helpful. You may share some interesting or funny stories, just be sure to safeguard your personal information while you are at it.
Make a smooth transition
You may be feeling a bit overwhelmed with getting back to work or school. Deadlines are piling up and not giving you a change to slowly get back into the rhythm of things. It then becomes imperative that you create this smooth transition yourself. Set out daily, weekly or even monthly goals so that you are able to keep track of and meet all your deadlines.
Find a new hobby
During your holidays you sure got up to some great fun activities, but that doesn’t mean that’s where the fun should end. Apart from work, find out what keeps you occupied, if these things bore you then go for things you have always wanted to do. Be it learning a new language, learning a musical instrument, joining action netball or touch rugby. Pick a new hobby that will keep you occupied and happy.
Plan your next trip
Inspire yourself to work hard by anticipating your next holiday destination or a local short trip. Keep in mind that you have to work hard in order to be great. During your holiday hangover, you can start looking around at places you would like to visit.
