On Thursday 18th January, The Independent Board of Examinations released some of the matric results for the class of 2023. Today, on the 19th of January, public schools released the remaining results for NSC, marking the end of high school and the start of something greater for many hardworking students.
Checking your matric results couldn’t be easier. In the past, one would need grab a newspaper or storm the school gates, now it’s as simple as hopping online to check.
Here’s how you can view your results:
How to check your matric results
As per reports by the Citizen, Department of Basic Education pupils can access their results via the Department of Basic Education’s website.
For the IEB matric results, pupils can access their results via the IEB website. You will only need your exam number and date of birth to gain access.
If the websites have crashed and you can’t get through to access your results, you can also download the MatricsMate app. All you will need is your exam number to gain access.
If apps and websites fail you, you can also check your matric results via SMS. Ensure that you use your own mobile phone to check, as the portal will only register one mobile number for each exam number. Simply SMS your ID number as well as exam number to 35658 for public school results and to 35135 for IEB results. Your results will be sent back to you via SMS.
You can check your results via USSD code too, by dialling *120*35658* after the results have been released. You will need your ID number and exam number to gain access to results.
If none of these methods work for you, you may access your matric results from the school where you wrote your finals.
Congratulations to the class of 2023!
